In addition, Mrs. McIntyre Traweek represents businesses and individual foreign nationals in the complex immigration process, including employment-based temporary and permanent residency, family and marriage-based permanent residency, special categories of temporary and permanent residency processing, and citizenship and naturalization.
She routinely represents health care organizations and universities in filling their critical needs for health care workers, researchers, professors, and other staff. This may include filing employers’ labor certifications and immigrant petitions for alien workers, including extraordinary ability, outstanding professor/researcher, and national interest waiver categories. In addition, she assists foreign nationals in adjustment of status or consular processing as may be required.
She also represents victims of crime in connection with special “U visa” processing, including victims of domestic violence and other violent crimes. Services to these victims also assist law enforcement in investigating and prosecuting these crimes and make our community safer as a result.
Mrs. McIntyre Traweek also regularly represents foreign nationals in obtaining permanent residency through family-based relationships, including permanent residency based upon marriage to a U.S. citizen. She also assists permanent residents in the final steps of the immigration process once they become eligible for naturalization.
Mrs. McIntyre Traweek is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is also on the Board of Directors for The Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama and actively participates with the Tuscaloosa County Domestic Violence Task Force.

Leila lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she enjoys exploring the city’s food scene, photography, going to concerts and dancing, and spending time with her cat, Sylvie.

Since graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2023, Leila has represented clients in a variety of immigration processes, both before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The daughter of a Dominican immigrant to Puerto Rico, Leila’s exposure to immigration law processes began at a young age and continued during her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, where she studied journalism. While there, Leila wrote about issues faced by the immigrant community in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which inspired her to eventually return to Tuscaloosa to begin law school. Leila especially enjoys representing clients in their affirmative and defensive asylum claims and other humanitarian-based applications U visas and T visas, available to victims of serious crimes and trafficking, respectively.
Leila is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Law chapter.
